Press Work 24/7:Both Sides of the Coin;
Guest Speaker - Victoria Terry, former Editorial Assistant to Pamela Wallin, Craig Oliver and Bruce Phillips of CTV and later, Press Officer to the US Embassy in Ottawa.

She will share her experiences and insights from her exciting career on both sides of the communications coin - the journalistic and public relations perspectives.

Where - Room A, National Library and Archives;
Time - 6 p.m.
Cost - $15 for light dinner or $5 for coffee

Topic - Voices on the Rise: Afghan Women Making the News;
Guest Speaker - Mme Khorshied Sanad, author, journalist, former head of Fox News TV in Kabul, Afghanistan, and wife of His Excellency Omar Samad, Afghan Ambassador to Canada, will talk about women journalists in Afghanistan and how they are helping promote democracy in her country.

Time - 5:30 p.m.;

new home of the National Press Club Foundation.

Saturday, December 8, 2007
Christmas Party Potluck Supper.
 David Shanahan, a professional historian and accomplished storyteller (Seanicchie), writer/editor, musician and entertainer will entertain us with "An Irish Christmas". He will give us the "real feel" of an authentic Irish Christmas in the Ottawa Valley.

Dr. Shanahan is also the editor of The North Grenville News (Kemptville) where he "comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable" with his always entertaining, and often controversial, editorials and local political coverage.
Where - at the home of Valerie and David Knowles.

Topic:“The Role of Women Journalists in Creating Gender Equality in Sweden.” 
Speaker:  Ambassador Ingrid Iremark of Sweden

Sweden is an international role model in creating gender equality, and the Ambassador’s topic is in keeping with our theme of celebrating the achievements and contributions of women journalists around the world. The Ambassador herself started her career as a journalist.
