The Intricacies of Festival planning

Marginalization of Immigrants in our Educational System

Monday, October 30
Giving Back to the Community: The Role of Media
.
Speaker: Max Keeping, vice-president of news, CTV Ottawa, and long time anchor of the 6 p.m. local news. The evening will also include the annual Margaret Graham Award presentations to journalism students from Algonquin College, Carleton University, and the University of Ottawa.
Presenting the awards will be Kimothy Walker, anchor and producer of the CTV Weekend News at 6 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

Monday, November 27 
Saluting the International Year of War Brides
:
Hear stories from three women who married WW11 Canadian Servicemen and view a handmade quilt made in recognition of the war brides.

High Tea at Zoe's

Where: the Chateau Laurier, 1 Rideau Street. A time to celebrate the holiday season and chat with dear friends.

 "Freedom of Speech." Guest speaker: Lawyer David
 Paciocco will speak about a democratic press and how it relates to the
 Juliet O'Neill case.
 
 Plus, presentation of Margaret Graham Award to Carleton University winner
 Joshua Finn.
 Where: Yesterday's Restaurant, 152 Sparks Street, near O'Connor.
 When: 12 Noon. Cost: Members - luncheon $25, coffee only -$5.
 
 Noon, Monday, February 26 - "Hitting a Brick Wall in Your Job Search?" Guest
 speaker: Bill Caswell, career coach, co-founder of Career Coaching
 International (CCI), author of three books (Notes to my Children, The Best
 Dam Business Book in the World, and Climb to Excellence), and monthly
 columnist for Ottawa. Business Journal. Caswell will discuss job myths, what
 to do if you hit a brick wall in your job search, and why most resumés fail
 to convey the right message.

 One-day Professional Development Workshop Delivering Your message Effectively to the Media with  John Brenner, Station Manager, CFRA;  Leigh Chapple, late night news anchor; Jim Creskey, co-publisher, Hill Times and senior editor, Embassy;Michel Cleroux, former media relations specialist for various federal government departments

- "How Media Coverage Affects the United Nations
 and Other Humanitarian Agencies". Guest speaker: Andrew Caddell,
 broadcaster, journalist and author of Behind The Headlines,.

- Tour of Laurier House and Tea served on the verandah, followed by the 103rd Annual General Meeting of the Media Club of Ottawa.
